Description
Heman Dyer was named Robert Bruce's successor in 1843. However his term would be interrupted by the Great Fire on April 10, 1845 which destroyed parts of the Western University. The University initially recovered until another fire in 1849 that forced the University to stop growth. When the University was able to begin going forward again, Dyer was no longer Chancellor.
